Culinary Science
The chefs can be said to be much nicer when compared to the service instructors in SSM. Early in the morning and I heard Mr G hollering and the sound of something breaking can already be heard. What a start to the morning. Told to cut my hair before the next session. I just had it cut 2 days ago!:'( Although Mr S was rather nice, saying he would give me a break this week.
For once in my history at TCA, I had an hour long break! But it made no difference as the queues at engine canteens were still hopelessly long. After break, we embarked on a culinary journey learning how to cut vegetables, the difference between slicing, chopping and mincing. And I learnt how to cook a hard-boiled egg!

Paranormal Activity 3 will be regarded as one of the best horror films of all time because it managed to make me jump from my seat. Not many films have the potential to do that. Hahaha. I think it was also the first time that many of us watched a film together. Split into 7-6. I think steph only managed to watch 1/3 of the screen through the gaps of her fingers and could be heard complaining how long more of this torture she must endure.
Random dinner meet-up at Siglap for lammy's return to Singapore with renhao, chang, mingfong and wesley. Super irritated when people set a time and come 1-hour late. Punctuality is the best policy, there's no use in apologising afterwards. So when they reached at almost 10pm, we headed over to Xin Wang HK Cafe(again) for "dinner". Our entire experience was a disaster when the manager stood at the door and not showing us to our table even with us standing there for a full 5 minutes. Ordered my pork chop and it was horrible! It reminded me of a tasteless piece of raw rubber. It was that bad okay! Same sentiments from mingfong and renhao. Got my mild caffeine fix from an icy cold mug of yingyong. That was the only bright spark in the meal. We had to ask for the bill twice because the manager apparently forgot our request. When he finally came with the bill, I was appalled that there was no feedback form for us to comment on their service or their food. Therefore, we decided to boycott that restaurant for an undecided period of time.
T.G.I.F
That stands for Today Got Indian Festival. Hahaha not meant to be racist in any way so no offence!
Relatives coming over for steamboat later in the afternoon.
Culinary Science tomorrow. Hope it will be loads of fun.

And so it has come down to this: The first day of school. Throughout our years of education, this is the one day that holds so much promise yet exudes that aura of uncertainty. Today it's no difference. Split into our different classes, there will initially be doubt and judgment. But hopefully as the days go by, these negative feelings will begin to fade and evaporate. I know what it is like losing friends just because you do not make the effort to sustain the friendship. It can be difficult due to conflicting schedules and sometimes, we will all reach the stage where we question, "What for?" It has been a rollercoaster of emotions throughout the years. It's time to head out to greener pastures and see what the future holds. However, we all know that the past is always the best.

I made a promise to mum that I will sleep at 10pm today, so I shall keep this short.
Tomorrow is the last day of work at ITB Asia 2011. Shall blog about it detail soon.
Feeling very sad that our beloved class is splitting up, save for a few of us.
I am really sad about it. Really.
Rather disappointed with Girls' Generation new "The Boys" title song.
Hate my dry and rebellious hair. Totally abhor it. Cut it myself and now it's worse.
Forgot to add these facts the last time.
I eat my french fries two by two. Each pair must be about the same length.
I need those "alone" time on public transport home sometimes because I need to think.

Impromptu ubin adventure
An exciting but tiring day out so all I can do now is to let the pictures speak for themselves.
Although our crabbing attempt yielded nothing apart from a little mini-crab, it was all worthwhile due to the giant feast that followed. More pictures will be up as soon as they are available.

Memorable "hangout" time with 08 people. I have no idea why but my mood will be especially good when I am with these people. Everything they say or do somehow is able to put a smile on my poker face. Like how weichong has no money to watch a $6 movie but sufficient cash to eat a $22 korean bbq meal. We met at 2D1N sojubang at novena for korean bbq dinner. My appetite was massively affected by by long-withstanding illnesses of cough, sore throat and flu which never seemed to go away.(Absolutely hate the feeling of being sick.) Also the first time we really drank a little bit of alcohol in a long time as a class(albeit small group). The last time was probably cheryl's birthday which was eons ago. So we finished up our very meaty dinner and gathered outside IRAS to talk. But our talk was not really productive and we left soon afterwards. Bussed home on 21 with steph.

Friendship is a funny thing.
Compare a person you have known for years to someone with whom you have just got acquainted with. What's the main difference? The difference, I would say, is the context. For example, you become very friendly to a new friend because you just discovered that you probably share many common interests, or just are able to hit it off very well. At this stage, I would describe it as the "Getting to know you"stage. You will appear so obsessed on building this friendship, that you neglect your other friends, even those who are dear to you. The thing is, you yourself will never know, or realize this happening. After a certain period of time when the heat has died down and your new friend has become a contact, you will revert back to your old friendships. This is where it all happens. At this point of time, people view you as a hypocrite, or two-faced so as to speak. They feel that you are just a parasite, flitting over to where the popular kids are, and trying to garner attention. However, my opinion on this entire matter is that it all boils down to many factors. For example, the strength of your peer relationships, your attitude, or what I should call the existence of "reparation" and even the situation. The second factor is what you do to resuscitate a friendship that may be on the brink of nonexistence. Ultimately, I have only this to say: "True ones remain while the rest go." No matter what happens throughout any relationship, it is best to keep in mind that every obstacle faced is a hardship overcome. And most importantly, how it was hurdled and who was with you throughout.
P.S: Overthink sometimes ruins relationships. So does feigning ignorance solve everything?

This post shall just be a photo spam, as a memory of this family trip. Otherwise, photos will still remain as photos. Here, they can be memories. This post is our tour of Hualien onboard a station wagon that brought us to the likes of Shakadang Trail and Taroko Gorge. The vehicle the day before was still better as it had TV screens playing korean MVS. Hahahahaha:D
The rocks were enormous. |
Mini waterfalls here and there. |
Dipped our feet in icy cold mountain spring water. Brrr..... |
Family of construction workers? |
See the water? It's mixed with clay. |
The suspension bridge connecting two peaks. |
No idea where Dad was touching. |
Looking for stones at the beach. Reminds me of Australia. |
Finally.....I'm back! The self-planned trip can neither be described as a total disaster, nor a complete success. However, through this family trip, I learnt that staying calm is very important. Conflict can be stirred up at even the most minor of things. Okay shall stop here because my past three days' posts were all so boring, you all also don't want to know right?
Schedule for October:
10-12: 2H02 Class Chalet + Collect uniform,shoes and knife + collect F1 pay
15-21: ITB Asia 2011
I find it amusing that tomorrow morning's gonna be a super busy time.
TP > Tiong Bahru > Kovan > Aljunied
No joke you know, carrying all these heavy paraphernalia to our class chalet, like as if we will use the knife set to whip up some exciting dishes. Maybe with all of us bringing our knife sets it would be like "Masterchef Summit 2011"?

Shall post as fast as I can or I would feel lazy once I return to Singapore.
The following post is an account of yesterday.
Along the way, we climbed HeHuan Mountain.
Upon reaching, we went over to the nearest night market over here for dinner. The food was really nothing fantastic, maybe due to our fatigue. We went back to our accommodation to sleep right after because we were that tired.
The following post is an account of yesterday.
Set off from our homestay early in the morning at 9am. The person second from the left in the above picture is the owner of the homestay, a meticulous and generous person. Imagine, at 5.30am he offered to drive us up the mountain to view the sunrise at no extra cost. And when my parents went over to the hot springs, he asked my brother and me what time they would be back so that he could fetch them, knowing there was no more shuttle bus back. He even helped us to contact our next accommodation owner to arrange the transport for us. The guestbook was filled with compliments from guests all over the world.
The entry my dad wrote in the guestbook. |
Our first stop was the breathtaking hotel styled after a European castle. Magnificent isn't it?
After that, we reached a natural livestock farm.
After that, we proceeded to embark on an 8-hour long journey to Hualien.
Along the way, we climbed HeHuan Mountain.
